When viewed from the bell housing, it appears at first glance to be a conventional 6T40 series six-speed transmission. We will see all the same long-familiar body layout. This is a deep cavity in which all major components are installed. The clutch drum sleeve 5-7-R Clutch and 6-7-8-9 Clutch is attached to the rear surface of the body with three bolts, a similar drum is known to us from 6-speed transmissions GM of the 6T series transmissions with clutch packages 3-5-R Clutch and 4-5- 6 Сlutch. Even the bearing surface of the chain driven pinion is made similar to the 6-speed transmission of the GM 6T series. The interbody gasket is also rubber-metal.
The rear part of the housing of the nine-speed GM 9T65 transmission has two structural differences from the GM 6T40 series in the form of:

• Additional (line) filter (Fig. 1)
• The valve and the return spring of the accumulator of the 4th gear clutch 4 th Clutch (the accumulator valve is similar to the accumulator 4-5-6, which is used in the 6T70 valve body) Fig. 2

  Valve body side looks pretty common to anyone who has repaired a six-speed gearbox. The linkage and selector position sensor are nothing new, there is a hole for the output speed sensor.
  The valve body is bolted to the body as usual. One notable difference is that the nine-speed transmission uses five rubber tube seals between the valve body and body instead of the two used in the 6T40.
